I absolutely loved designing this nursery soooo mama to be’s hit me up (;
When dreaming up Lock’s nursery, I never thought of a specific theme. I knew what I wanted to feel as I walked in there day or night. I wanted to feel the overwhelming love of Christ and the sense of peace each time I rocked, nursed, and played with Locklin.
As I was pregnant and imagining what it would be like to raise Lock, Martin and I more than anything wanted to raise him with wisdom of the Lord. To be able to see life from God’s perspective and then to know the best course of action to take. This helped us each time we added to the nursery filling it with bible verses and nic-nacs that reminded us of Jesus. What better way to start showing Christ’s love for Lock than to fill his room with His truth.
“A person’s face brightens their face and changes its hard appearance” Ecclesiastes 8:4
Each part of his room was prayed over and intentionally thought on. I wrote out our vows to hang above his crib because Lock was made from our love that Christ put together. Our vows that hang above his crib is my favorite part. This is what started the whole nursery “theme” and as we hung them up, the rest just fell together. I knew from the get go I wanted our vows incorporated into his nursery somehow. We wrote our vows for our wedding, and they are still just as powerful to me as they were on our best day.
Vows are something so big to me and I think our culture can easily overlook how powerful each word should be taken when said. Marriage, in general, is the coolest and best gift. God knew when creating Martin that he would pick me for his forever. Through Christ ordaining our marriage, Locklin was created and given life. Still gives me chills. Placing Lock in his crib and looking up to see the words Martin and I promised to each other gives me all the feels. It’s a reminder to place my marriage above Locklin, to love Martin fiercely even when we are dog tired and stressed out, and just a sweet reminder of the best.day.ever.
This sweet little nursery means so much to me and the little boy that sleeps inside it is my world. Shout out to my hubby for making my shiplap wall dreams come true!
